The First Post is the Deepest

Hello friends! In case you don’t know me (even though I know you do, because you are my mom), I am Erica, and I am teacher in a Title 1 school in Colorado. In just five short years, my career has already taken me on quiet a little adventure, from the Eastern European Republic of Georgia-worry not, 95% of all stories I tell are about Georgia, so you will LEARN- to a teeny rural school in Wyoming and now to an urban school in Aurora, CO. Teaching is funny and hard and scary and amazing. Hopefully you will get to experience some of that with me.

I used to blog a lot when I taught overseas, and I miss it. Which brings us here!

This blog will focus more on my super put-together adult life than my previous one, because I have everything figured out and you deserve to learn from me.

As I was getting the website ready, I continued to ask myself: why am I starting to blog again now?
I will give you three choices as to really why:

1. Shouting into the void of Twitter was becoming unfulfilling.

2. I barely even use Twitter, but going into public places to shout into a void was becoming equally unfulfilling, and also I am no longer allowed at Casa Bonita.

3. I am FASCINATING.

If you answered number three, you don't know me at all. If you answered two, you know me better than I wish. The truth, though, is that I love to write. About teaching, about books, about fashion and art. But mostly about dogs and Mexican food. (But not Casa Bonita, for reasons of which I'm not allowed to speak). Writing is the way we make sense of the world around us, and it simply is more fun to have a place to put that writing other than a notebook.

I don’t know which direction this blog will go in, and knowing me that direction will be nothing I can predict. But I am excited to write more and document my mostly hilarious life as a middle school teacher. Thanks for coming by!

XO,
Erica
